Interrail Pass and Global rail Pass for all European countries

In Europe there is a train pass, which is valid in all European countries. Specifically in Europe. Let us recall that there are 27 countries in the EU. Therefore, this pass has a wider coverage. The cost of the pass is determined by its validity period. In other words, having bought this pass for a fixed fee, you have the right to board any train and travel.

The question is how to travel. The pass has become popular, which means a lot of people, especially during the holidays, are in a hurry to travel. There are not always enough comfortable seats. Therefore, in each EU country it is proposed to reserve a seat for an additional fee.

Note that this condition is not mandatory. If there is a free seat on the train and it is not reserved by anyone, then you can take it and travel. If all the seats are occupied, you can travel on this train, for example, standing. As a rule, a seat reservation is required for high-speed long-distance trains. With the EU Pass you can also travel on all the scheduled trains in Europe.

The Pass is offered by many trade agents.

We say "EU pass", but the pass we are talking about has two official names, namely: Interrail Pass and Global Pass.

EU Pass  is offered for periods ranging from four days to several months.

Interrail Pass or EUrail Pass for EU citizens, as they do not need an exit visa.

Global Pass for citizens of all other countries, as they need an entry visa to the EU.

More about seat reservation

This condition is determined by each country separately, as well as by the railway company itself. Therefore, when planning a trip, visit the website of the company itself. Railway companies talk about this issue. There are different prices for reserving a seat.

Here are some message options:

High-speed and Intercity trains

All high-speed and intercity trains require a seat reservation with a Eurail Pass. But it’s hard to book in advance. And it’s not free. It costs €10 on high-speed trains and €23.50 in first class. The best way to reserve a seat is at the station, but obviously you can’t do that in advance!

Spain

In Spain you must buy reservation for seating. Reservations of seats are made at the stations. This payment call not as a tisket, this payment call reservation. The EURO Pass is working in Spain without garantee for a seat. If there are a lot of people in the train, the passenger can stand. On average, a reservation will cost around €10 in Spain, varying slightly depending on the type of train. Reservations for first class seats are more expensive, and on trains without first class carriages, the flat rate is €4 per reservation. The only services where you can just ride are the Cercanías commuter trains and regional trains.

The seat reservation system makes it difficult to book seats in advance. If you are a meticulous planner who likes to have your itinerary mapped out in advance, book point-to-point tickets.

Eurail passes offer flexibility even with the seat reservation system. If you are someone who does not care about planning your travel itinerary in advance, the Eurail pass may be the perfect option for you. Just hop on the train with your Eurail pass.

If a seat reservation is required, go to the station and buy a reservation at the ticket office, or do it online or on the train company's app. Tickets from your destination bought on the day of purchase can also be quite expensive, so you will save money by using the pass.
